100th Post

So this is my 100th post, YAY! :D I am on track to have posted on average twice a week since I left. It's a bit hard to believe that I've almost spent an entire year overseas. I don't know what to think really, just that this year will be an interesting and defining year..

Let me know what summer time activities you have been up to, so I can know what I'm missing out on...

In other events I had an interview with Google, which I'm not too confident about. My solution to a problem was wrong, well it was correct but that I dictated it wrong.. It was all over the phone and I had forgotten to explain about the case where the input could be zero. Which I did think about, and wrote down but forgot.. I was supposed to use some Writely program, that would allow her to see what I was doing, but she didn't like using it, so I'm wondering - what if? Meh, I got the next thing right though, but there were no more questions. You could say I feel a little mislead as to what the interview would involve (e.g. more how do you do this in Java, Python, etc..), but maybe because I got the first problem wrong, I didn't progress to anymore questions.

There is supposed to be a follow up phone call from the recruiter, but yea I'm not expecting much, as I assume they only hire people who get things 100% correct...

Updates

So San Jose and the Bay Area have all been experiencing a bit of wind and rain lately. We've had a couple of storm systems move through with one having Wellington like winds. Sure some trees fell over, and there was some flooding, but to me it was how winter was supposed to be... :) This also brought massive dumps of snow to the mountain ranges, with about three metres falling over the course of a couple of days. Hopefully it will still be all there and nice and fluffy when I head up to the slopes in February.

With all the rain, this part of California will return to green, as for most of the year, it's a parched brown colour. So it will once again remind me of green hillside pasture...

Christmas and New Years

Christmas was spent in Poland, being constantly fed by my family. Of course I did not complain, as Polish cuisine is positively salivating stuff. Pierogi, kapusta, the different smoked hams, and meats, sausages, marinated herring, salads - MMmmmm!

New Years was spent in San Francisco at an apartment, where we watched the fireworks (slightly obscured) from the roof top. In general it was a relaxed affair, with a late night walk down at fisherman's wharf, as the weather was still and calm, with a starry sky - a nice winter's night.

Photos from Poland

Photos from my Trip in Poland :) Namely in the hills near Bielsko-Biala, Krakow, the Wieliczka Salt mine, more of Krakow and one from Wadowice.

Happy New Year

I would just like to say a Happy New Year! 2008 looks likely to be a year of forks - where big decisions or events will change the course of things: elections, visas expiring, university administration looking at applications, etc... (i.e. like a fork in the road)

Also sorry for not posting in the last couple of weeks.
