Yahoo Hack Day

So a couple of weeks ago I participated in the Yahoo sponsored hack day. No it's not a day that we try to hack into other people's computers, it's a day (rather a week in fact) where the objective is to code some web oriented things together. It's called a hack because the code created might not be pretty and you might be joining things together that weren't purposefully created to be with each other...

Anyway Yahoo came out with a web monkey search plugin, so people could make extra stuff to help in certain search queries, i.e. if I search for a term, which corresponds to a term found in wikipedia, there could be a wikipedia plugin that will allow you to see a bigger snippet of the corresponding page, rather than having to click through to see if this was the thing that you were after...

Anyway my idea was to help search for the local bus schedule. So I wrote a plugin called VTA Bus Quick View. It allows you to see the route map, and the links the schedules from within the search results... With this I came second and won an iPod touch :D Sure there wasn't much competition, but hey I'm not complaining...
