Last night Eric, Nick and I (
El Trio) went to check out to
the Hut. The Hut is a student bar, said to be a good dive bar. Dive, yes, it's
(see I have an apostrophe this time dad) an interesting term. Supposedly that means crap, kind of run down, place, where the better class don't frequent.. However the Hut reminded me of the old zeebos in Wellington, except with a North American flavour. It was nothing flash, had a pretty relaxed dress code, had no 80s room, but had the usual Bud light neons, etc. People seemed in good spirits and the resident DJ played the usual hip hop pop mix, which I have no complaints with :) One really weird feature of the bar was that it had all these dollar notes pinned to the ceiling and some of the walls. Some had messages on them, others had their business cards attached to them.
Ok ok, but yea El Trio was out in force. We had only been in there for a couple minutes and we had already made some acquaintances ;) It has to be said that women are a minority here in San Jose. For everything cool that San Jose is in being a computer geek Mecca, it just somehow doesn't have the female base. Men outnumber women in San Jose by some silly number (hence the term
man jose), however I'm not complaining, as we didn't seem to have any problems :D
